Blue Flame has been providing propane services to families and businesses in the four-state area for decades. In June of 1977 the company moved from its original home at Dawson Hardware to its present location beside the Valley Road Dairy Queen in Berkeley Springs, WV, and we grew rapidly from there. By 1979, local demand and construction on the Hancock Bridge had spurred the need for propane storage in Berkeley Springs, so a 30,000-gallon tank was added to the Berkeley Springs Plant. And in 1985 we purchased Empire Gas in Hancock, MD, so we could better expand into the Hancock area. By the Fall of 1991, Blue Flame was serving most of the communities in Morgan, Berkeley and Hampshire Counties in West Virginia, and in Washington County, MD. Our growing customer base spurred an addition that doubled our original office so we could better display fireplaces, space heaters, water heaters, and furnaces.
After having been in the Bohrer family for decades, in 1996 Blue Flame passed to the Haldeman Family who is still running the business today. We continue to employ longstanding members of the founding family’s team, and we are proud to carry on their legacy of careful, personal service.
In 2002 we added two more 30,000-gallon tanks in Hedgesville, WV, and in 2004 our storage capacity in Hancock was doubled when we added a second 18,000-gallon tank to our system there to better serve our Maryland and Pennsylvania customers. By August of 2009 we had finally outgrown the old office at the back of our lot, so we moved to our new facility at 1834 Valley Road. A big programmable sign in front of our office was added early in 2011 so we can support the community with local announcements and great Blue Flame specials. Blue Flame continues to grow! In 2010 we added Parco Propane, on the other side of the mountain in the Bridgeport/Fairmont/Grafton area, where we serve families and businesses. But wait, there is more! In 2019, Blue Flame added another 30,000 gallon storage tank at the Berkeley Springs plant to increase storage to aid in keeping gas in our customer tanks in the bitter cold winter when all other gas companies are running out! We also expanded our storage area for more tanks across from our office in Berkeley Springs. This allows us to have ample tanks on hand to meet our customer needs without delay in ordering and waiting on tanks to arrive from vendors.

For our heating customers’ convenience, we can automatically delivery propane during the winter season. Payment plans and other programs are available in the summertime. Blue Flame provides reliable service to homeowners, restaurants, and businesses and we offer 24-hour emergency service 7 days a week. Our comfy, cozy showroom has a wide variety of decorative stoves and fireplaces along with economy heaters and hot water heaters to choose from, and we are happy to refill your grill cylinders and campers.
